Food for thought

We were back with a bump and an early start to the New Year. We now meet the second Saturday of the month. Our theme for this year is food. To start us off Richard took the session and explained how we could tell what early humans were eating. We found out that by looking at cave paintings and the bone remains that they had similar animals to us and would hunt them not only for their fur or skins but for their meat as well. We also learnt that by looking at human bones we can tell what type of diet they had, using isotope bone analysis. From pollen samples in certain conditions we can even tell what plants were around at the time. After our break we had a quiz on the topic covered and then had a go at our own cave paintings.
